Join me & give your immune system a boost with a selection of yoga based practices perfectly tailored to support your physical & mental resilience... Perfect for anyone & every body, regardless of previous yoga experience... ∞ The workshop will include: - 1.5hr yoga practice, including postures specifically aimed to remove toxins from the body, nourish your cells & relinquish stress - 20mins break - 20mins pranayama (breathing techniques) to condition the lungs & maximise lung capacity, building resistance to infection - 20mins guided meditation to destress the mind ∞ Whilst bringing our attention to the movements of yoga (the asanas), we are fully focusing the mind on the postures & working with the breath - this naturally relieves stress & anxiety, calming the mind. Stress is a major cause of a depleted immune system, making us very susceptible to contracting infections. ∞ Physiologically, the yoga asanas help to condition the lungs & respiratory tract, stimulating the lymphatic system to remove toxins from the body, as well as delivering oxygenated blood to various organs to ensure their optimum function. ∞ During pranayama, we use a variety of techniques to take conscious, mindful breaths which helps to balance the nervous system, reinforces the respiratory system, lowers blood pressure & reduces stress hormones. ∞ It has been found that our immune system has not only a physical response - it is intertwined & deeply connected with our thoughts, moods, sensations & expectations. The areas of the brain responsible for regulating the immune system also control emotions, awareness & anxiety - when we meditate we stimulate these areas by creating a positive mental environment for the immune system to flourish.
