The key to a well-rounded yoga practice is practicing different styles of yoga - there are different benefits for each approach! We will be exploring gently flowing Hatha practices (building strength and balance), restful Restorative postures (healing the body) and contemplative Yin yoga (targeting and releasing the connective tissue). Pranayama (breath-work) and meditation will also be incorportated into each class to find balance and optimal benefits for our practice. Find more details about each style of yoga below. All of my classes are suitable for beginners as well as more experienced Yogis. Now Covid restrictions are no longer in place, I am once again able to offer all those little extras that make class even more relaxing & conducive to your self-care... ∞hands-on adjustments (with permission), intention stones & affirmation cards, Chakra essential oils, music & more∞ Mats, blocks & blankets available to borrow. Restorative Yoga: The whole body is allowed to relax deeply. An ideal class for anyone recovering from or living with any physical issues, also perfect for those who simply want to relax, relieve stress & give their body some love. ∞ Whilst holding seated, prone & supine postures for a few minutes, the body's healing response is activated & the muscles are allowed to soften into sustained respite. Props such as bricks & blankets are used to support the body allowing both the body & mind to unwind - please bring a blanket or two with you. Hatha Yoga: A traditional class which uses the breath to connect the mind & body. Develops core strength, flexibility & balance. ∞ Following a gentle warm up, we flow through a series of standing postures, leading into deeper stretches, rounded off with a delicious & deep relaxation. Hatha yoga aims to create balance within the physical body by improving organ function, muscle elasticity & joint mobility. We also develop awareness of the mind-body connection, cultivating balance at a mental & emotional level as well. Yin Yoga: Targeting the deepest tissues of the body, our connective tissues – ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body and the meridians. ∞ A slow-paced practice in which we hold the postures for deeper release. Yin is a passive style of yoga whereby we relax into the pose, paying attention to our breath and sensations within the body. Helps alleviate pain and tension, relieve stress and anxiety and improve your overall well-being.
